An Indian cotton used locally. The crop is a small one, and the cotton is picked by hand. Nuns originally picked the cotton and the yarn made from it was used to manufacture clothing for the priests. -
2 Guipure Carrickmacross Lace
A fine white embroidery on linen cambric and connected with lace stitches. Originally started by nuns in Europe, later Saxony adopted it and then France about 1750, afterwards the art was taken up in Scotland and Ireland.
